We are excited to announce that on 25 November Vukauzenzele Primary School in Mamelodi, Pretoria opened its vibrant new library. The school has 999 learners, who now have access to 4000 quality children’s books.
It is our fourth library project in Gauteng and our first in Pretoria. It was encouraging to see members of the School Governing Body (SGB) at the opening – a good sign for the continued support of the library from within the school. Several principals from other schools in Mamelodi also attended the opening to be part of the special occasion.
Vukauzenzele Primary’s principal, Mr Mampye and his deputy Mr Twaise both gave speeches in which they expressed excitement at how the library can support the school’s curriculum and nurture a love of reading among the learners.
The library will be managed by new library assistant, Gugu Ralepelle. We wish her all the best in her efforts to bring the library to life with the support of the school, School Aid and The Bookery.
