Nal’ibali Training for our Library Assistants

On Monday 6th October, 30 Library Assistants filled a training room in the Humanities Post Graduate Building at UCT for a  Nal’ibali Reading for Enjoyment Orientation Workshop. The Nal’ibali Campaign is all about Reading for Enjoyment and so the Library Assistants participated in fun activities, sang songs, listened to and read stories, and thereby acquiring strategies and techniques that they can apply when starting a Reading Club in their Library. Each Library Assistant was given a Reading Club Starter Pack, A Poster of The Children’s Literacy Charter and a Nal’bali Newspaper Supplement to assist them in starting their Reading Club.  The Workshop was conducted by Ntombi and assisted by Bulelani from PRAESA. The Library Assistants will be having a followup workshop on the 17 October. The emphasis of the Workshop was on the importance of Reading for Enjoyment and the significant role the Library Assistants can play in creating this excitement about books and stories.
