Second library opening of 2017 at Ludwe Ngamlana Primary, Khayelitsha
We spent the morning in Khayelitsha last week visiting two schools. The first was Ludwe Ngamlana Primary, on the corner of Mqha & Sizimisele Street, where our second library of 2017 was opened. The project was funded by Allport Cargo Services, who donated Libwin, the library management software we used, and additional books. The library is equipped with 4000 books and will be ably managed by keen new library assistant Mxolisi Jack. At the opening the principal, Mrs Dube, and members of the School Governing Body expressed their enthusiasm for the new library. We are excited for supporting the school in making the library an ongoing success.
After Ludwe Ngamlana, our next stop was a ten-minute drive away, at Sosebenza Primary, where we were welcomed by library assistant Mpumi in her bright and lively library.
Sosebenza Primary’s library was opened in 2012 and was Allport Cargo Services’ first project with us. Last week they donated a fantastic top-up of several hundred fun and vibrant
isiXhosa books from Biblionef.
Last week Friday we also received an incredible selection of home language and English books from Book Dash. We will be distributing these to our libraries in the coming weeks.
